Update: GOODREADS CHOICE AWARDS 2015 FINAL ROUND!

Hola!

We've come very far now and at this point we're down in the last round. Yup, this is the final round. Competition is at its toughest and it's really hard to choose who's the best. I know I had a hard time but I had to be strong. I've put here some of the nominees in their respective categories so that those who haven't voted yet would be able to take a peek. I just can't hide my excitement and happiness that my favourite books are here for the final round but of course, the downside on that is they all get to compete with one another. Yeah, boo.

Anyway, I've already voted and I'm just crossing my fingers that favourites get to win. You guys still have the chance to cast your vote. You still have three days left to think who are the best books for you this 2015. I've posted her some of the nominees in their respective categories so you guys could take a look if your favourite books made it this far, I know mine did.

All the best!

#PRAYFORTHEWORLD

I woke up a little late in the morning Friday the 13th and as part of my usual routine, I checked my phone for any important messages, mostly from my boyfriend, and scanned my newsfeed. I use the social media as my daily newspaper. I follow most of the News Channel around the world and to my surprise, another horrific incident and event had happened again. The most popular that I saw and read was the attack in Paris followed by the earthquake in Japan. It is safe to say that that morning is the worst I have woken up. There were newscast, from around the world, about the terrorism attack in Paris. I watched as the numbers of casualties and deaths increased. Isis claimed it was there responsibility.

Everyone, including me, showed our sympathy and concern to those who were greatly affected in the attack and the earthquake. The social media became our platform.

I witnessed how the world crumbled because of the attack. Everyone was completely and still completely devastated. Obama even gave a statement. Popular landmarks around the world lit up in the color of France as a symbol of mourning to their loss. Even Facebook have given people the chance to put the France flag as part of their profile picture. Like how it did during the fight for the same sex marriage,

With all of the news about Paris, most of the world have forgotten that Paris is not the only one under an attack. Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Beirut, Baghdad and some other countries are also under attack. These countries are as important as Paris. They, too, need our prayers and concern.

I was ashamed that I was selfish enough not to show sympathy and concern for them before. But I've realized, I am also a human and like everybody else, I depend on news channels to feed me the right informations.

I'd like to show my deepest sympathy that these countries aforementioned that were not given such attention despite the tragedy that also happened to them. I'd like to send my prayers to them as well as my love and care.

I 'd like to take this moment to tell everyone that we should stop selective humanity. Everyone is in need of our prayers and love. The world needs equal distribution of love, care and sympathy. If we are gonna give these, we should give them to everyone.

Help me and the others spread the love and care for the world. Here are posts that were shared to me by my friends. I'd like everyone to take a moment read them. Give these a thought.

News Update: GOODREADS CHOICE AWARDS 2015 SEMIFINAL

Hola!

Great day everyone! I'm back! I have been busy for the past few days with college and stuff but I'm here and ready to hear from all of you.

So, as we are all aware (I'm guessing), the opening round of this year's Goodreads Choice Awards happened on the 1st to 8th of November and hopefully everyone had the chance to participate and cast their votes for their best books. I'm betting that most of us had a hard time choosing the best titles for each category. I was completely torn because, as expected, all my favourite titles were nominated side by side in the same category especially in the Best YA (all the titles are my fave and I've read them) coz let's all face it, we just love 'em all, right?

Anyways, the semifinal round already started yesterday, 10 November, and will be running til 15. I'm happy that Jojo Moyes' After You made it to the Semifinal along with my fave, Harper Lee's Go Set a Watchman, for the Best Fiction category. Baldacci, King and Hawkins also made it under the Best Mystery and Thriller (another hard choice, BTW). Most of my favourite books in the Romance category also made it to the semi, just not really psyched that an eye made it too. Oh well.

I've noticed that there are Youtubers that made it to the semi for Best Humor along with the awesome, Mindy Kaling. Not a fan of Youtubers but my friend is just obsessed with Dan Howell and his book is nominated, TABINOF or The Amazing Book is Not on Fire, and she wanted me to vote for it but I didn't. (Smiles) I take my Choice Awards seriously and I'm not bias. But hey, happy for them.

Ghetto Side by Jill Leovy also made it under Best Nonfiction and I really like that book so Yay! I was also torn choosing between Dirty Pretty Things and Memories under the Best Poetry because I'm just obsessed with both Michael Faudet and Lang Leav so it's really sad that I had to choose but hey, I'm just so happy that they both made it. Both are really great. And as much as I love Rainbow Rowell, I just really love Miss Peregrine's. I am in love with Ransom Rigg's books.

And let me just say how proud I am that Made You Up, Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and My Heart and Other Black Holes made it to semi under two categories, Debut Goodreads Author and YA Fiction! How cool is that?

I'd like to congratulate all the authors who made it to semi and those who didn't. Each and every book is amazing and deserving of acknowledgements. Winning to this competition doesn't mean that the titles that didn't make it are not worthy. Let's all remember that.

So, to all of you who haven't voted yet or wasn't able to vote in the first round, this is your chance. You guys still have time til 15 and let's cross our fingers that our fave books make it til the Finals.

xoxo

News Update: GOODREADS CHOICE AWARDS 2015!

Hola!

Yes, you heard it all right. It's that time of the year we've all been waiting for, the Choice Award meant for all readers because let's face it, it's the only major Choice Awards where the readers gets to pick THE BEST books of the year.

I'm really excited and nervous for this year's Choice Awards because I've read such great books and I'm pretty sure I'd be torn between two great books. AGAIN!

The struggle is real people. You know that feeling you get when you're forced to choose between two of your favourite foods. That's torture. It's like you're betraying the other. It's crazy. There are like so many promising and deserving nominees. If it was possible, I would give them all an award. These authors deserve recognition for just simply making our bookworm lives happy.

There are like less than 4 days left for the opening round and there are more than 700,00 votes cast already.

Anyway, join me and let's make some authors happy! Just log in to Goodreads and cast your votes now.

Goodluck!

News Update: NANOWRIMO 2015!

Hola!

Happy National Novel Writing everyone!

I bet most of you guys have heard about this event for a long time now and have been actively participating every year. That's awesome!

For some of you who aren't familiar with this event, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It's been running for like 15 years now. Basically, the purpose of this is to give way to those promising and aspiring writers or anyone who has always been into writing novels. Fun and cool, huh? I know.

So, how does it actually work? Well, you just have to have the will and passion to write a novel that has 50,000 words in just a span of 30 days or the whole month of November. The great part here is that you earn badges! You earn a badge for simply participating. Not only that, you could actually get to talk to published authors. It's actually a good thing because the writer is given such motivation, inspiration and they are able to know how to improve themselves.

What's not to like?

Anyway, for more information about this event just visit nanowrimo.org.
