ANNE WNDR HAULS: FULLYBOOKED SALE 2016

One of my favourite shopping bags!

It's that time of the year again where all the book Gods are on your side. I mean, it's not everyday that your favourite local bookshop is on sale so when events like this happen, you can't help but burn cash. I remember screaming in happiness when I found out that one of the branches of Fully Booked is having a book sale and how lucky I am that it's close to where I work, like a few blocks away. Awesome, right?

Anyway, when I found out about that, I immediately called my dad to inform him that we should totally visit the shop after work but things happened. I was thinking of visiting during my break time but I couldn't afford to walk in heels even for just a few blocks and also my shift ends at around late afternoon and I know that I wouldn't be able to go treasure hunting as much because most probably there would be tons of people, bookworms, like me that would be visiting so I had to wait the next day just to be safe.

The second day of the book sale was chaotic. It was raining hard, I thought people wouldn't be able to show up but when I came to the shop, everyone was already everywhere, there were no carts and baskets available, and books were toppled over each other, I didn't know how to get in the crowd. But a bookworm's gotta do, what a bookworm's gotta do. I dived in. Not literally though. It was like, survival of the fittest kind of thing. It was one of the few moments in my life where I refuse to care about the status of my hair. There were slight pushing. We were like fishes being fed. Whenever a salesman approach with a box full of books, everyone surrounds him. Before the books even touches the table, hands were everywhere. And I gotta say, my hands were one of 'em. You just gotta join the crowd or else, you'd be left with nothing.

My new babies (except for the two books behind Jane Green's, they're my mom's)

I was actually surprised that my mom were looking through the piles and bought a two for herself. Usually my mom is not a big fan of such crowd so this is actually a first. My little brother was a good help too. He looked after all the books I got and was very patient about it. Shockingly patient.

The books I actually bought

So, these are the things that I was able to get my hands on. I couldn't resist not buying another Sophie Kinsella book. Shopaholic series is just one of my fave. And then I got a Chicken Soup, it was one of my sought after books and I am ecstatic that I now got my own copy and it's about Christmas, so, yay! The rest are judged-by-it's-cover books. I am currently in this challenge with myself. The challenge is to pick a few books, random books, without reading the synopsis. So, you just gotta base it on the cover. The whole point is to just be surprised and fall in love with the book itself and not because everyone is gaga over it.

I spent P500 below for the books. I really chose not to spend that much on these kind of book sales because I already expected that it would be one of those clearance sales and that they won't be the books I am desperately saving up for. But if you're one of those bookworms that aren't picky, then you should totally check out Fully Booked at The Atrium in BGC, selected books are P250 and below. The book sale will be on the whole month of July. It is the perfect time to look for the next great read at a cheaper price. I feel like clearance sales are like adoption. These awesome books are surely looking for an awesome owner. So, I really hope you guys find time.

Clearly, I had a fun experience treasure hunting and I got great reads that I know you guys would be expecting a review of. I am actually starting on The Trouble with the Truth by Edna Robinson. Hopefully, I'd be able to post a review soon.

Set in the 1930s, this poignant, funny, and utterly original novel tells the American story of one lost girl's struggle for truth, identity, and understanding amidst her family's nomadic, unconventional lifestyle.

What's the right way to behave, to think, to feel, if you're always the new girl? How do you navigate life when you're continually on the move? Do you lie? How do you even know if you're lying? What's the truth anyway?

It's 1928 and nine-year-old Lucresse Briard is trying to make sense of life and the jumbled, often challenging family it's handed her: a single art-dealer father who thinks nothing of moving from place to place; her brother, Ben, who succeeds in any situation and seems destined for stardom; and their houseman, Fred, who acts like an old woman. As Lucresse advances through childhood to adolescence, she goes from telling wild lies for attention to desperately seeking the truth of who she is as a sophistication-craving teenager in the 1930s.

Told from Lucresse's perspective as a grown woman, The Trouble with the Truth transcends its time in the late 1920s and '30s, and weaves the story we all live of struggling to learn who we are and the truth behind this human journey.
